3 soldiers Injured in Rebel Mortar Fire In Batticaloa

Even as fierce fighting rages on in Trincomalee, the Sri Lankan Army has reported that Tamil Tiger rebels directed mortar fire at army detachments in Sittandy and Sandiveli in the eastern district of Batticaloa on Tuesday evening.
In a release posted on its website the army said "troops retaliated the LTTE fire using mortars and repulsed the attack."
Three soldiers received injuries and were admitted to hospital for treatment. The army has informed the SLMM about the incident.
