Kfir Jets continue to pound Mullaithivu, East Calm : LTTE

A spokesman for the Tamil tiger rebels has claimed that Sri Lanka Air Force Kfir jets have flown 2 sorties to bomb rebel positions in the Northern rebel controlled district of Mullaithivu.

He said casulty figures or details of damage were not immediately available.

An air attack on a rebel run orphanage on Monday left dozens of school girls dead in the same district. More than a hundred children were injured in the incident.

The rebels have also continued their offensive across the forward defence line in the Army controlled northern district of Jaffna.

The intensified fighting over the past few weeks has led to over a hundred thousand civilians being displaced.

" There is a serious food shortage in Jaffna and the curfews are making life very difficult for the civilians in army controlled Jaffna." Says Thaya Master, spokesman for the Tamil tiger rebels from Killinnochi.

"Civilian food supplies in areas controlled by us are also under serious strain." he adds.

Meanwhile, there is relative calm in the restive eastern districts of Trincomalee and Batticaloa.
