In a release on its website the Sri Lankan Ministry of Defence has claimed that Kfir jets of the Sri Lankan Air Force have destroyed two 130 mm heavy artillery guns positioned at Poonaryn in North Sri Lanka. The air strikes were carried out at 1:30 pm (IST) on August 19.
The guns were positioned at a location known as Kalmunai point or K point.
"Fighter jets took an accurate hit on the gun positions," said a military official.
The Rebel military spokesman was not immediately available for comments
