Karvachauth Series by Rajat Amarnath

My friend Rajat Amarnath has captured these pictures of the rituals associated with Karvachauth.

Once every year, hindu wives fast the whole day, praying for the well being and longevity of their husbands.

The fast is broken only after the moon comes out.

They offer water to the moon...water is poured out with both hands with the moon in sight.

The moon is not viewed directly, but through a sieve.

Wives then drink water to break their fast, in the presence of their husbands.
