SAMPUR CONSOLIDATED AND NAVAL TROOPS DEPLOYED
web posted on 18th September 2006
Naval troops consolidated and deployed in the newly cleared areas in Sampur just South of Trincomalee harbour. The infra-structure development is underway and linkage for logistics supply is established.
Sampur is situated just South of Trincomalee harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world, had been completely occupied by the Government Security Forces before the signing of the memorandum of understanding - Cease Fire Agreement signed on 22nd February 2002, and accessibility to the area was quite open. However, the LTTE outfit started their build-up in Sampur area posing a heavy security threat to the Naval Dockyard, Trincomalee harbour, civilian business places, Mistsui and Prima factories and civilian life in Trincomalee City.
The security assessments prepared by the present Commander of the Navy, then commander Eastern Naval Area, and many other military dignitaries claimed and declared that the LTTE build-up in Sampur area is inimical and dangerous.
It later revealed that LTTE cadres had positioned heavy military armaments including long range artilleries. The child combatants, who had been forcefully conscripted, started escaping from the Sampur LTTE strong hold that was a testimony of training child soldiers by LTTE.
Security forces had to keep a vigil eye on the Sampur LTTE hold and take precautionary measures.
On 01st August 2006 LTTE started firing artillery shells into the Naval Dockyard simultaneously with the sea borne attack on PF Jetliner. Later, on 12th August 2006, with the unsuccessful attack on the Kayts Island, LTTE again fired artillery shells towards the Trincomalee harbour, Trincomalee City and China Bay. 02 innocent civilians working in the Prima Company had been killed due to this artillery attack.
Thereafter Sri Lanka Army, supported by Naval and Air Force Assistance took the Sampur LTTE camp into their hand after heavy and fearful battle. Then the Sri Lanka Navy was tasked to occupy the Sampur area.

I am unable to understand what your blog wants to convey. It is not even a news blog. It just tells too much insignificant useless pimento about LTTE. I expect a little more from a 33 year old journalist. I will be grateful if you just tell me what is this blog specifically about. I become confused (like you) on coming here. LTTE, cats, cows, gals, sexy boys' chaddis,NOIDA flyover, what do you want to say?A sincere advice, your content is nice, you jusr need to learn blog etiquettes.
