10 Muslim Construction Workers Killed; 1 injured in East Sri Lanka

The Sri Lankan Army has confirmed to this writer that bodies of 10 Muslim construction workers were discovered this morning in the eastern district of Ampara.

They had gone to repair a Sluice gate in a remote irrigational dam and were expected to return back Sunday evening. The sluice gate is located in thick forests just 4 kilometers awar from the Shatrivel Army camp in the Ampara district.

The bodies were discovered by their collegues who went looking for them this morning.

" 10 bodies were found and one was found in a serious condition. The bodies were hacked. The injured man has been evacuated for urgent medical attention. The Tamil tiger terrorists are behind this." Brig. Prasad Samarasinghe told this writer from Colombo.
