(Full Text of LTTE Peace Secretariat Release)

The new Head of the SLMM, Larse Solveberg, met LTTE Political Head, S P Tamilselvan, today in Kilinochchi. Head of the LTTE Police, Nadeson, was also at the meeting.

At the press conference following the meeting, the Political Head explained what was discussed at the meeting.
Tamilselvan said that the SLMM Head expressed serious concern about the closure of the A9 road, thus denying hundreds of thousands of people their basic needs.
Tamilselvan also emphasized to the SLMM Head the seriousness of the situation due to the closure of the A9 highway as well as many other routes into the Tamil homeland. He told the SLMM Head that utmost urgency is needed in opening of these routes. The closure is not only a serious violation of the CFA, it is also a serious humanitarian issue Tamilselvan told the SLMM.
He said that the SLMM Head has informed him that he will work hard to reopen the A9 road.
Tamilselvan informed the SLMM Head that people are being killed in large numbers; displaced people are facing untold hardships; disappearances are happening at an alarming rate; and on top of it all, the GoSL is implementing an economic blockade on the people denying them basic food and medicine.
“This conduct is clearly a demonstration of total disregard by the GoSL for the CFA. CFA must be respected one hundred percent and the safety and the security of the people must be respected.” Tamilselvan told the SLMM Head.
He added that the President of Sri Lanka, the Prime minister of Sri Lanka and its Spokespersons are making inconsistent statements and it is hard to know the true stand of the GoSL. He said that the only fact that remains unambiguous with respect to the GoSL is that it is on a war path and it has opened many war fronts in the Tamil homeland.
