The donors have urged both parties to meet in Oslo in early October a Norwegian foreign office source told this writer from Oslo.

Representatives of the United States, European Union, Japan and Norway met in Brussels today to discuss the deteriorating situation in Sri Lanka.

Earlier, the rebel political wing chief S P Thamilselvan was quoted by a pro-rebel website as saying "“The LTTE is ready for talks. However, the opportunities for resuming the talks will be much stronger when the Sri Lankan government ceases its military attacks and all the CFA articles are fully respected and implemented.”
