Sri Lanka Army Release on Kilali Fighting

98 LTTE Dead Bodies Recovered From Kilaly Lagoon AreaJAFFNA: REPORTS REACHING COLOMBO indicate that troops have recovered 98 dead bodies of LTTE (Tamil Tiger) terrorists who were killed by troops during confrontations in KILALY, JAFFNA Wednesday (16). About 30 to 40 LTTE sea tiger boats were destroyed as they reached the KILALY lagoon with LTTE sea tigers.

Latest offensive by LTTE commenced around 6.30 p.m. Wednesday (16) with a heavy volume of direct and indirect fire by the LTTE concentrated on Security Forces Forward Defence Line (FDL) in KILALY but alert troops fought with valour and repulsed the attack.

The terrorist suffered deaths and heavy casualties before the remaining cadres withdrew from the scene with some dead bodies and casualties. Arrangements are underway to handover the dead bodies to LTTE through ICRC.

During confrontation 03 Security Forces members were killed and 15 others were injured.
