Kanwarias returning home

These pictures were shot by me in Sambal, Uttar Pradesh... Kanwarias a returning from Haridwar.

The small PET bottles hanging from their Kawadis are used to carry water from the river Ganga.

They offer the water at various temples along their way...as they head back home.

Many Kanwadias die every year during the pilgrimage. Many in road accidents, some because of sheer exhaustion.

Road accidents involving Kanwadias result in mobs of Kanwadias stopping traffic and going on a rampage.
