The Jama Masjid at Nainital, Uttaranchal

This magnificent structure on the main street in Nainital, Uttaranchal is the Jama Masjid.

It was built in 1882 during colonial times, primarily for muslim soldiers based in military camps around Nainital.

The emphasis on symmetry is in line with Islamic architecture.

The words " There is but one god and Mohammad is his Prophet "is engraved above the main entrance.
