Flash :Sri Lanka Denies Rebels have Overrun Army Camps in East

True Facts On The Situation At Muttur

2 Aug 2006 - 06:26 GMT + 05:30

TRINCOMALEE: THE SRI LANKAN SECURITY SOURCES totally deny the report carried by a pro-Tiger website to the effect that Tiger terrorists have overrun the Sri Lankan Army camp in KATTAPARICHCHAN and they have advanced one km inside the MUTTUR town and also that GHANDINAGAR and PALATHOPPUR areas have come under Tiger control.

Security Forces emphasize that the camp and the three locations mentioned are under full control of the Sri Lanka Army.Contrary to the pro-Tiger web report two soldiers were killed and 24 others were injured due to Tamil Tiger mortar and artillery shelling this morning in MUTTUR and KATTAPARICHCHAN general areas where a mass civilian community lives.

One civilian was killed and 10 others were also injured in the incident.Reports from the conflict area confirm that Tamil Tiger terrorists have deliberately targeted the MUTTUR hospital where civilians are receiving treatment.Meanwhile Tigers launched a mortar and shell attack targeting naval detachment in MUTTUR killing three sailors and wounding six others. Naval troops retaliated and repulsed the Tamil Tiger attack securing the MUTTUR jetty area in the hands of Security Forces.

During the whole incident troops attacked the terrorists in retaliation causing them heavy casualties killing over 40 Tiger cadres and wounding 70 other terrorists, where they have fled leaving some of their dead cadres. Police posts located in the Central Bus Depot, Telecommunication and Town Center were initially vacated due to Tamil Tiger resistances but ground troops at present confirm that the entire key area in MUTTUR is under control of Military and Police after the additional troops rushed in assistance within a short span of time.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Tamil Tigers have actually done what they claim. They are capable of doing the same. However what's been bothering me for a while now is that we rarely see Prabhakaran on the forefront. Earlier LTTE and Prabhakaran were synonymous. It isn't the same anymore. Is the Tiger growing old!

That and the fact that he is more paranoid about his security than he ever was. That means no interaction with journalists ...he just meets select black tigers. As far as age...he is just about 54 years old...that is not too old is it.
