
Pakistan High Commissioner was Target : SL Army

Sri Lanka Army Spokesman Brig. Atula Jayawardane has told this writer that the target of the blast near Liberty Plaza in Colombo was the Pakistan High Commissioner.
"His excellency the High commissioner of Pakistan was the target. He is safe. However, the car he was travelling in has been damaged and about 6 commandos travelling with him for his security have been injured." Jayawardane said.
It is now officially reported that atleast 7 people have died in the blast including soldiers, many more are said to be injured.
Three vehicles have been completly destroyed.
The LTTE has been accusing Pakistan and its intelligence agencies of funding and supporting Islamic militant groups opposed to the LTTE in the restive east of the country.
LTTE's chief negotiator Anton Balasingam has accused Pakistan of the same in media interviews.
