Former Member of the Sri Lankan Parliament S Shivathasan was injured in the blast. His 3 year old son and a body guard were killed in the attack.
7 people including Shivathasan were injured in the attach.
The police suspect the Tamil Tiger rebels to be behind the attack.
EPDP is ideologically opposed to the LTTE and is part of the ruling coalition in Sri Lanka. Its workers have come under attack from the LTTE in the past.
Shivathasan is related to EPDP chief Douglas Devananda.

AP story says Shivathasan did not have any children. The girl who was killed in the attack was a school student passing by.
