UNICEF IN THE REBEL HELD NORTH

At the UNICEF office in Killinochi in rebel held north Sri Lanka.

This is LTTE land and the UNICEF has often raised concern about the recruitment of children by the rebels.

UNICEF carries out mine awareness programmes in the rebel held areas.

This helps save lives in a country which has over a million land mines strewn across its north and east...a legacy of the 25 year civil war that has seen more than 60,000 dead. Posted by Picasa
