Poems by Rajesh Sundaram
Celebrations
Celebrations, generations
young songs of passion
older more subtle ones
Blaring from hired speakers in a lawn
Drowned sometimes by hired Dhols and drunk Dholies
Colours of cheer, some harsh chemicals too
All there...sobriety and some twisted sobriety
Young faces...in love, basking in the warm sunlight
glistening in bucketfuls of cold purple water
masks painted on faces...unfathomable
inhibitions intact...some lost
Sobriety sits in judgement.
( Picture by Nilanjan Chowdhury. This is what he had to say "The lawns of the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur...are a silent witness to many a debauched celebrations. The white marble structure is an example of "Sobriety sits in Judgement" ...and waiting for the next years celebrations")

Hey Sindy,
That's some neat poetry from you. Didn't know this side of you. I think they are pretty meaningful. Great going dude. Keep it up. My personal opinion on the Blog, now that I have spent sometime going through it in detail. I think you have some gems in terms of pics (Nilanjan's collection as well as yours). Since there are so many journalists who write in or feed info to the blog, maybe you should pick up a topic every week (for starters) and do a special article on the same, so others can input by way of comments. I mean there are so many different opinions on various current issues. For eg: Saving Prince and The Serial Bomb Blasts in Mumbai. I think both the events were handled pretty badly by most media channels. Has Indian media forgotten their Journalism ethics....Or has the race to be the first one to break the news nourished by the commercial aspects of survival taken over the actual reason for the existence of the fourth estate........Forgive me but a channel covering the movements of the poor little soul stuck in 52 feet deep hole by sticking a camera in his face (and the Background VO saying....there is not enough oxygen for Prince in there) to me is the biggest irony in recent times........It seems like we have stopped caring altogether...I wonder what would have happened if the boy had (God Forbid) died of suffocation under the so very watchful eye of the media!!! Would we has responsible people blame ourselves for being irresponsible journalists and highly demanding viewers, who probably seek pleasure out of anything that's out of the routine....Even in News.
Anyways this is just a suggestion. I think a lot of the stuff on the blog is reflective and hence one can relate to it...I think my pics with my soulmate!!! are a misfit....It suddenly starts looking like a Suraj Bharjatya Film blog...would you please remove them!!!
