The mine fields of Sri Lanka...one of the most dangerous places in the world. There are over a million land mines strewn across North and East Sri Lanka and it is people like Zlatko Vezilic who make all the difference between life and death for civilians especially children living in these areas. He is a de-miner.
He trains local de-miners and helps them earm a livelihood while they rid their part of the world of deadly mines.
However, with the 4 and a half year ceasefire in tatters there are fears that much of the work done by deminers during the ceasefire period may soon be undone.
In this picture Vezilic is infront of the camera and Mahadev behind.
At the time we shot this report, humidity was almost 100 percent, the temperature was near 40 degrees C and everyone was required to wear protective jackets and head gear that weighed many kilos. And we had to keep in mind, that if we deviated even an inch from the red thread, we could step on a mine.
